The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron, a luxury plug-in hybrid hatchback, has been recognized by Green Car Journal as a finalist for both the 2016 Luxury Green Car of the Year and 2016 Connected Green Car of the Year Awards. Green Car Journal will announce the award winners at the Washington Auto Show on January 21st.
The Luxury Green Car Award is given to a vehicle that “exhibit[s] laudable environmental achievement,” while the Connected Green Car Award goes to a car that integrates “connected technologies that enhance efficiency, safety, and the driving experience.”
Improved environmental performance over previous model years, overall performance, safety, quality, value, and functionality were also considered for the luxury award. The connected award is thanks to the advanced Audi connect, a system that provides access to information and device content.
The A3 Sportback e-tron was also a finalist for the National Green Car Award last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
