Audi Traffic Light Information System Expands

We have all experienced driving through a city and feeling like our red light will never change. With the Audi Traffic Light Information system, you can know exactly when it will. This technology communicates with traffic signals to let you know the “time-to-green.”

Audi first released this system in 2016 with Traffic Technology Services to work with certain intersections in Las Vegas. Over time, the system has continued to grow and with the new additions of Phoenix and Kansas City, Kansas, it will work in 10 cities at more than 2,250 intersections.

“Audi continues to be an industry leader in connectivity and mobility solutions,” said Scott Keogh, president, Audi of America. “Not only do V2I technologies like Traffic Light Information help to reduce driver stress, they are also essential infrastructure developments as we continue toward an automated future.”

Traffic Light Information is an Audi connect PRIME feature and is available on select 2017 and 2018 models. The system will work with certain traffic lights in Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Palo Alto and Arcadia, California; Las Vegas, Portland, Oregon; Denver; and Washington, D.C.

In the future, V2I technology could work with vehicle features like automatic start/stop, optimized navigation routing, Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory (GLOSA), and other services designed to reduce congestion.
