Audi Leads the Race for Creating Self-Driving Vehicles

AudiNavigant Research recently conducted a study in search of the car manufacturers that are making the biggest impact toward a future of fully autonomous driving by researching past achievements, current technologies, and future plans. The study found that Audi ranks as one of the leaders in the industry, alongside Daimler, BMW, and General Motors.

“Our approach looked at the overall strategy and execution to see who’s got the best history in this area as well as who’s got the most on the drawing board now and has made announcements about what is going to be launched in the next year or two,” David Alexander, London-based senior research analyst for the market research and consulting firm based in Colorado, in a statement.

Audi’s current autonomous technology includes adaptive cruise control, Audi Side Assist, Audi Active Lane Assist, and Audi Pre-Sense Rear. All of these technologies work together to assist Audi drivers – even automatically taking control when the driver appears unresponsive to alerts and warnings.

Audi hopes to be creating self-driving vehicles within the next few years. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available, and stop by Gossett Audi in the meantime to learn more about Audi’s autonomous technologies that are already available.
