At the Geneva Motor Show last month, we got a glimpse at a new 2018 Audi coupe. Audi says the 2018 RS 5 Coupe will focus on both performance and fuel efficiency.
It will be powered by a new twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 rated at 450 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This engine replaces the 4.2-liter V8 in the outgoing model, making the new coupe lighter. The V6 is paired with a Tiptronic eight-speed transmission and Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Audi says it can reach 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph.
The RS 5 coupe was inspired by the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car. It has an aggressive design with large air intakes and uses the same honeycomb pattern as other RS models. In addition, it has a broad, flat grille, wider wheel arches, a diffuser insert, slim spoiler, and oval tail pipes. Buyers can choose between 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the RS 5 Coupe comes with a premium look and feel. A flat-bottomed steering wheel is standard on all models along with RS badging throughout the cabin. Sport seats will keep drivers supported through tight turns. And, the virtual cockpit delivers important information like g-forces and torque on its high-resolution screen.
Release information has not been announced yet, but here at Gossett Audi, we can’t wait to experience the 2018 Audi RS 5 Coupe for ourselves.
